  • Alana completed her Bachelor of Arts in Psychology at Taylor University College, and a Master of Counselling Degree at the City University of Seattle. Over the past several years Alana has focused her work on children who have experienced attachment injuries and developmental trauma, with a special interest in helping children (and adults) who experienced abuse and trauma to heal. Alana enjoys using a variety of therapeutic approaches with the people she serves, including therapeutic play, sand tray, narrative therapy, EMDR, cognitive-behavioral therapy, and internal-family systems. She is able to incorporate different modalities depending on client need and preference, and puts a person-centred therapeutic relationship first in the healing process. Alana has also taken training in The Grief Recovery Method® to help individuals and groups heal from various losses.

  • Alana is a member in good standing with the College of Alberta Psychologists and Psychologists’ Association of Alberta.

  • I care deeply about walking with people in their grief, and believe that the work of healing is a sacred journey. This belief has been influenced by my own experiences of grief and loss, spanning from various changes in my life, the death of significant friends and family, and the traumatic births of my children. There are times where we as people can feel very ill equipped to navigate these losses, so I seek to walk alongside my clients to remind them that they are seen and heard, their experiences matter, and that there is a way through the pain. Grief, trauma, and loss can cause great disconnection, and my hope is that I can help people feel more connected to themselves, others, and their experiences.

I enjoy spending time with the people that I love, including my husband and twin boys. I love drinking coffee and having meaningful conversations, creating, and practicing gratitude. I value adventure and travel and making memories with my little family.
