DEATH

The death of someone we love is a deeply painful and lonely experience.

Although death is inevitable in life, it is a human experience we can never truly prepare for. Whether your loved one died as a result of a long-term illness, a short-term illness, or suddenly, please understand that your feelings are normal and natural. Your relationship with your loved one was unique; therefore, your grief is unique. Comparing your grief to that of others only minimizes your feelings and isolates you in your pain.

Grief is the normal reaction to loss.

You may be experiencing some or all of the following common symptoms of grief:

  • Changes in sleeping and/or eating

  • Changes in routine

  • Difficulty concentrating

  • Excessive worry or panic

  • Emotional exhaustion

  • Frequent crying

  • Outbursts of anger

  • Overuse of alcohol, drugs, or other substances

  • Physical and/or emotional isolation

  • Preoccupation with the loss

  • Reduced energy or motivation

  • Waves of emotion

We have the tools to help you heal and move beyond the pain.

Fear is a normal and natural feeling after loss. Our fear can paralyze us in our suffering if we don’t take action to heal our hearts. We encourage you to step through your fear and take new action today.

“If you are reading this because someone close to you has died, I am deeply and sincerely sorry for your loss. I can’t imagine how you must be feeling right now. I wish things were different for you. I won’t tell you I know how you feel, because I don’t. I just remember how agonizing and crushing it felt when my dad died. I felt incredibly scared, alone, and ill-equipped. When I took the courageous actions of seeking help and taking ownership of my suffering, a beautiful transformation occurred in my life. I feel happiness. I feel joy. I feel whole again. It is our mission at The Grief and Trauma Healing Centre to share the very same tools that healed our hearts after loss, with you. It is our privilege to walk next to you on your healing journey.”
