Online Children and Grief: What Caregivers Need to Know

  • #1, 9363 50 St. Edmonton, Alberta Canada (map)

Supporting a child through grief is a tremendously difficult task. Caregivers, who are often impacted by the same loss, are left with little information on how grief presents in children and what to do to support them.

With the desire to bring caregivers together and create a space for conversation about grief, our team at The Grief and Trauma Healing Centre is honoured to organize this free educational talk over a 90-minute virtual session on Thursday, March 11th at 7:00pm MT.

Three members of The Grief and Trauma Healing Team will be presenting:

  1. Gina Baretta, Master of Counselling Clinical Intern and Certified Grief Recovery Specialist

  2. Heather Andrew, Registered Social Worker and Certified Grief Recovery Specialist, and

  3. Justine Elliot, Registered Provisional Psychologist and Certified Grief Recovery Specialist

The first hour of the session will address:

  • Common losses children face

  • How grief presents in children

  • What to say to children about grief and loss

  • How to normalize grief for children

  • Strategies to support grieving children

  • Self-care tools for caregivers

The last half-hour of the session will be an open Q&A. This will be an opportunity to ask our team about how to address specific circumstances you are facing or may face in the future.

There are limited tickets available and only one virtual ticket available per person!

We look forward to seeing you there.

With love,

Gina, Heather, Justine and The Grief and Trauma Healing Team
